Synaxis of the Holy Unmercinaries is this Sunday
15/11/19, 12:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

This Sunday marks the annual feast of all the Holy Unmercinaries. The most famous of these is the Great Martyr Panteliemon, but there are many more saints who served humanity in the name of Christ by healing those suffering from physical (and often spiritual diseases) without accepting any remuneration for their efforts. They understood that they could heal only by the power of God, which was freely given to them. This feast day marks the patron feast of all health care workers, of which we have many in our parish. All who work in this profession are called upon to prepare themselves to partake of Holy Communion this Sunday by attending the Vigil on Saturday evening, receiving the mystery of Confession, and reading their pre-Communion prayers. More information on how to prepare for Holy Communion can be found here:

CONFESSION AND COMMUNION AT ST. VLADIMIR'S

Congratulations to all our health care workers on the feast of the patron saints of their ministry/profession!

Gregory is here to serve our parish family just as Christ came to minister so too is this the calling of the parish priest. You can reach Fr. Gregory by phone or SMS at 734-649-5746 or via email at ogrisha@stvladimiraami.org. This Friday & Saturday we hold our all-English cycle of Divine Services at St. Vladimirs. This is a great opportunity to introduce our friends, loved ones, and neighbors to the beauty of the Orthodox Divine Services. But if you keep this secret they wont know. As a rule we are very bad at secrets. Terrible actually. Yet this one we seems to do relatively well at keeping and that is bad! Lets tattle! Lets tell! Lets gossip (sort of)! Dont keep the cure for death that is the Orthodox Faith a secret invite a friend, loved one, neighbor, stranger to our all-English services this weekend!

Weekly Educational Offering - Prepare for the Coming Sunday!
13/11/19, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

We present here a short educational offering for both children and adults on the upcoming Sunday's principle Gospel reading so that all can better prepare for the Divine Services. Parents are asked to review the childrens portion with their children. It is very important for us to attend the Divine Services on Sundays and whenever else we are able, but in addition it is our spiritual responsibility to educate ourselves and our families in the faith. It is our hope that this mid-week offering will be an aid in this regard. Please contact Fr. Gregory with questions or suggestions.

Silence in Church Please
12/11/19, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

It is important that we make an effort a real effort to refrain from speaking in church. We have gotten a bit lax about this lately and the timing is not good. Archbishop Peter will be visiting soon and he will most certainly correct this inappropriate behavior if we do not correct it ourselves. And we will like it a lot less if he feels the need to do this than if we learn to do this on our own. If one absolutely must have a conversation during the time of the Divine Services this should be done either:

1. In the kiosk area IN VERY HUSHED TONES. The glass doors are by no means sound proof. We are failing quite terribly here. The Parish Council will discuss this at the next meeting and measures will be taken to cut down on the cacophony coming from behind the glass doors during the Divine Liturgy.

2. Outside

3. Most appropriately, unless the conversation involves a life or death situation: at the meal after the Divine Liturgy

4. We ask parents that if they bring toys for their children that these be soft toys that to do not make noise when dropped on the floor or on the benches.

Please contact Fr. Gregory with questions or concerns.
