Feast of the Founding of the Church of St. George in Lydda
16/11/18, 12:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

Today is an interesting feast of St. George the Great Martyr. On this day the basilica in Lydda, where St. Georges relics were placed and where they remained for centuries, was consecrated during the reign of St. Constantine the Great. Although a minor feast of St. George it is not a minor feast for our parish family, since this is the Slava of Milo Radulovic, our founding Starosta and a huge force in the establishment of our St. Vladimir parish. We ask your prayers for Milivoje on this day, the day his family many centuries ago rejected paganism and became Christian. May the memory of our Milo be truly eternal and may the merciful Lord reward him in the next life for his work for the Lords Church in this life!

Giving at St. Vladimirs

Our Parish Council met on Thursday evening, November 8. Bottom line: we have not been doing a very good job of providing guidance to our parishioners about the spiritual obligation of financial stewardship. About 1/3 of the Lords parables touched this subject yet we have not touched it comprehensively for years. And that is not fair to our parishioners. So we will begin to touch this subject a bit more actively. This is a spiritual issue not a financial one. And this is the way we will approach it. No pressure but education. We begin here. The Treasurers Corner page provides all sorts of information about why one should make a prayerful decision about stewardship, whether the Patriarch pays our electrical bills, allows you to ask a question of the Treasurer, see our weekly collections, and more. The Donate page is set up to make your life easy and to provide you peace make a recurring donation after having made a prayerful decision about stewardship. We hope sincerely that these informational pages are helpful for all our parishioners and we welcome your feedback!

Monday First Things - Teachings of the Holy Fathers

A man obtains the fear of God if he has the remembrance of his unavoidable death and of the eternal torments that await sinners; If he tests himself every evening as to how he has spent the day, and every morning as to how he has spent the night, and if he is not sharp in his relations with others.

Liturgy on your Name's Day?
10/11/18, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

It is a true blessing to have the opportunity to partake of Holy Communion on one's patron saint's day. Fr. Gregory is willing to consider serving Liturgy on your name's day yes YOURS. If you would be willing to attend the Divine Services on the eve of the feast and on the feast itself, and to partake of Holy Communion on that day please contact him. This is not a guarantee that we can do this but we can certainly try. But please don't tell him a week before. Something like six months before would be better three months before as a minimum. See Fr. Gregory with questions or email ogrisha@stvladimiraami.org!

Fr. Gregory is available to bring Holy Communion to the sick, bless homes and apartments (or dorm rooms), or to provide spiritual support to any and all of our parish family whenever there is a need. Please do not hesitate to contact him! Too often those in need suffer in silence because they do not want to bother the priest. Fr. Gregory is here to serve our parish family just as Christ came to minister so too is this the calling of the parish priest. You can reach Fr. Gregory by phone or SMS at 734-649-5746 or via email at ogrisha@stvladimiraami.org. Rest assured he looks forward to hearing from you any time whether you have a specific need or even if you just need to talk please contact him!
