Communing the Sick, Blessing Homes, Spiritual Support - Please Reach Out!
14/11/19, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

Fr. Gregory is available to bring Holy Communion to the sick, bless homes and apartments (or dorm rooms), or to provide spiritual support to any and all of our parish family whenever there is a need. Please do not hesitate to contact him! Too often those in need suffer in silence because they do not want to bother the priest. Fr. Gregory is here to serve our parish family just as Christ came to minister so too is this the calling of the parish priest. You can reach Fr. Gregory by phone or SMS at 734-649-5746 or via email at ogrisha@stvladimiraami.org. Rest assured he looks forward to hearing from you any time whether you have a specific need or even if you just need to talk please contact him!

Silence in Church Please
12/11/19, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

It is important that we make an effort a real effort to refrain from speaking in church. We have gotten a bit lax about this lately and the timing is not good. Archbishop Peter will be visiting soon and he will most certainly correct this inappropriate behavior if we do not correct it ourselves. And we will like it a lot less if he feels the need to do this than if we learn to do this on our own. If one absolutely must have a conversation during the time of the Divine Services this should be done either:

1. In the kiosk area IN VERY HUSHED TONES. The glass doors are by no means sound proof. We are failing quite terribly here. The Parish Council will discuss this at the next meeting and measures will be taken to cut down on the cacophony coming from behind the glass doors during the Divine Liturgy.

2. Outside

3. Most appropriately, unless the conversation involves a life or death situation: at the meal after the Divine Liturgy

4. We ask parents that if they bring toys for their children that these be soft toys that to do not make noise when dropped on the floor or on the benches.

Please contact Fr. Gregory with questions or concerns.

Divine Liturgy Explained
9/11/19, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

The Divine Service we attend most often is the Divine Liturgy. We know it, but do we know it? The better we understand the Divine Liturgy the more we will engage in this "work of the people", and the more we will get from it. Or perhaps better put, the more it will transform us. And since we are seeking to be transformed into the children of God, should we not take the time to delve more deeply into the Divine Liturgy - the most theologically significant Divine Service? That is a purely rhetorical question of course, since the answer must be "yes"! The article below is a classic of the 20th century, written by one of the most influential theologians of that time. That time was not that long ago - and this article is well, well worth the read!

At the Parish Council meeting on March 11, 2017 a Stewardship Education Team was appointed by the Parish Council consisting of Fr. Gregory, Jack (Alexey) Mitchel, and Leta (Ksenia) Nikulshina. The charge of this team is to provide our parish family with educational information about stewardship. In this regard, we intend to send out an email and post on our parish web site a quarterly communication in preparation for a quarterly parish finance report out.

Please find the quarterly communication at the link below. Please note that we will have a question and answer period and report out during the parish meal on Sunday, October 27, 2019 to allow for questions in an open forum. However, please feel free to contact any of us, or any of the Parish Council members, with questions at any time. Or, if you prefer, use the second link below to ask a question or make a comment anonymously.

We thank you sincerely for your generous support of our parish! And we look forward to hearing from you at your convenience regarding this information.

Monday First Things - Teachings of the Holy Fathers

Have confidence in the compassion of our Creator. Reflect well on what you are now doing, and keep before you the things you have done. Lift up your eyes to the overflowing compassion of heaven, and while He waits for you, draw near in tears to our merciful Judge. Having before your mind that He is a Just Judge, do not take your sins lightly; and having also in mind that He is compassionate, do not despair. The God-Man gives man confidence before God.
